June 21th.
Hi, Pat!
How far out are you scheduling for? I'm interested in two chairs and a
small table to go between them.
Thanks,
Lori

June 22st
Morning Lori!
My current lead time is seven days.
Let me know as I've been getting quite a few inquires.
I do offer Pay Pal but I've yet to use it.
The price includes free delivery in the metro area. And if your not happy with the
chairs I simply put them back on the van with no hard feelings.
This season I've made 35 of these chairs and have always returned back to the porch with
an empty van.

Thanks! I'll take two unfinished chairs. Do you have a pic of a table that
could go between them? I saw one with curved edges on two sides that I
liked earlier. We have a truck rented to take furniture to our cabin on
the 30th on June. Do you think that we could have them as soon as the 29th?
Thanks,
Lori

The 29th is good, maybe even a bit sooner.
I have not costed out the table but I'm guessing it would be around 35 dollars. I'll
send you a link later tonight.
The link will show some shots of your chairs being made.
Thank you for your order. Back to making chairs. Thank God for central A/C.

I'm thinking this is the table? It's part of the Adirondack Trio. Dimension have been removed for copyright.
Please confirm when you have a chance.

06/25/09 Thursday
Working on your chairs today.
Also doing a mock up drawing of the table just to get use to it again.
Running a little bit behind but will make up for it tonight.
The bases and legs are now done. Arms and upper support brace will be on before the day ends.
I'll try to post images yet today.
A little bit of my day is being chewed up by staining for another customer.
Still on track to have the chairs and table finished by Sunday evening.

Table modification from plans?
Please ignore the top but look at the legs. They are angled at 15 degrees.
I'm thinking this would improve the stability of the table and would recommend it to you.
Still looking for an actual image of Norm's table.
What do you think? Your choice but I need to know by Sat afternoon or so.
Cost on the table is $25 to $30.

Well it would seem the guy who did this one didn't angle all four legs only three. His bad. All four of yours would be angled.
His top is also cut with the same pattern as the back slats where Norm's is cut on a circle.

I like your recommendations. Let's go with it.
Thanks,

Thought you might like to take a look at your chairs while their being made. (Well I also needed a break.)

These are four of the back slats after the first edge sanding. This sanding gets rid of saw marks. The entire chair get four sandings. |
Arms are cut but not rounded over yet. Bases are glued with a marine adhesive. Don't worry about those screws they are just temporary to hold things together. Later they will be sunk and plugged. |
|
From the back. Those temporary braces you see are spacers used to make the arms level. Sorry about the mess been kinda busy. |
Now it's starting to look like a chair. But give it time as it will get better. Time as in by six or so. Once again....Thank you! pat |
Well we're waiting for the rubbing alcohol to dry.
Yes, you didn't read that wrong, rubbing alcohol.
A little more attention is given to unfinished chairs.
When staining a chair the sandpaper should go no higher than 100 grit to allow the stain to penetrate.
And don't worry you can always stain later but the chair would need to weather for a bit, a month or so.
But getting back to the rubbing alcohol.
When sanding any piece of unfinished wood rubbing alcohol will cause the grain to rise.
You then do you final sanding in order to knock down the grain which produces a very smooth surface.
Mind you this works with any type of wood. It's just one of those things you learn over the years.

First chair was just completed.
Second will be finished in about an hour.
I'm not expecting the table to take any longer than an hour or two.
Will have pics up tonight.
When and where would like the chairs delivered to?
Thank you

I really like the way the table came out. It's been a few years since I built one.
Lori thank you for doing business with Cedar River Mills/patsporch.
When you do get around to staining and feel the chairs need a touch up sand send me an email.
Let's see we put the rack of ribs on the left, lemonade (or something else) there, the potato salad fits there and just enough room for a pot of seven bean salad.
