Hi Pat,
My wife and I are interested in purchasing 2 adirondack chairs and 2
footrests from you. We would like the wood finished, a clear or light
color varnish or shellac so that if something is spilled on them they
could be wiped off.
Could you please send me the dimensions of your chairs (width of
seating area, width of entire chair from outside of the armrests, and
depth of the chair from the back of the back leg to the front of the
front leg)?
We'd also like to sit in one of your chairs before we decide for sure.
Please let me know what your current lead time is and whether you can
make us some chairs.
Thanks!
Rich

Afternoon Rich,
I promise to get back before the day is out with dimensions but it will be late tonight.
On staining. Sikken makes a product called Cetol 1 Natural Light.

Look for the colors towards the bottom. Those colors are pretty close to the actual
finish even though the grain is not.
It has a Satin Sheen which is a a semi-gloss. Kinda shinning is the best way to describe
it. Not as yellow as the natural.
As of Monday I'll be beginning a new set of chairs. I'd be happy to bring over one.
Right now I'm thinking late Tuesday or Wed morning before their are finish.
The only conflict I can foresee is with a resort owner. This is a long time customer of
mine.
And if you wish to purchase the sample I bring over your more than welcome to do so.
Now back to the staining thing.
It takes me about a day and a half to make a chair, unstained.
Staining requires three days. Three coats with a 24 hour drying time between each coat.
There is no way to speed up this process.
I stain the chairs in the garage but I will not stain when it's raining. Humidify is
just too high and leads to an effect called pop corning were the stain develops small
chips six months down the road.
So in short. Wed 07/01 (maybe Tues..maybe as I don't rush) you could do a test sit. Sat
07/04 the chairs could be delivered to you. It really all depends upon the weather.
I do thank you for your inquire. Please take a look at my website. There's a lot of
information on my chairs and my customers.
Thank you,
pat

Rich, I had to dig a bit but I found these images from a couple of years ago.
Do not use this image as my current work. I've made many, many changes over the years.
For the current chair, even though it looks like this one please check out the following link...

I have fallen about a day behind, so no need to call.
Chairs are complete and seat slats are being attached today. Footrest
should be done by noon today (Sunday).
Did you want the Cetrol 1 Natural 078? Stain will begin on Monday morning.

Still a little bit behind but working late tonight.
Your chairs have passed QC. QC is my bride Kay of thirty years now.
If it's not right, now up to my standards and her's, she tells me so.
Now mind you I might argue a bit but I do what she tells me to.
On a side note....
If you've ever seen the PBS series Rumpole of the Baley, Rumple calls his wife "She who must be obeyed.".
The chairs are done, I'm behind on the footrests. Not to worry they will go fast once I make up my mind.
One of your chair also has a name. Based upon a knot configuration. Reminds me of an Uncle.
All images will produce a very large image....
